Privacy Policy

Personal data: a much-discussed topic. And that is not without reason. Privacy is of course very important and we can therefore imagine that you would like to know what we do with the personal data you leave behind. We would like to explain this to you in clear language here, in our privacy policy. Do you still have questions after reading? Please feel free to contact our customer service.

The Privacy Policy you are now reading applies to all Ombits web shops. If another party is responsible for the collection and processing of your data, you can consult the privacy policy of that party on the relevant website.

Your personal information

You enter your personal details because that is what you have to do when placing an order. But why do you have to fill in this information and what do we do with it? Are they safe?

We ask for your personal information because this is necessary to complete the appointment made: delivering the items you have ordered in our webshop. We ask for your email address so that we can keep you informed of the progress of your order. You will then know exactly when your order is being processed and when it has been shipped. So nice, right? We ask for your telephone number so that we can contact you quickly and easily if something unexpected goes wrong with your order. Fortunately, this does not happen that often, but acting quickly is a good idea to avoid delays.

When are they consulted?

The data that you share with us in confidence can only be consulted by colleagues who need the data to ensure the ordering and shipping process runs smoothly. This includes our colleagues from system development, customer service and order processing. When you sign up for the newsletter, our colleagues responsible for sending our newsletter can also consult your email address.

Your data will be consulted/processed in the following situations:

  • The processing of your order
  • For returns & repairs
  • When you contact our customer service

We use your data to offer you our most optimal and personal service. Think about:

  • Reviews and customer satisfaction surveys
  • Visit our website
  • Emails (and any newsletters)
  • personal advice
  • Actions
  • Social Media

Of course, we never lose sight of your privacy. In some cases we have a legal obligation to use your data. This is the case, for example, if we suspect fraud.

Third parties

We only pass on your data to third parties if this is necessary for good service. This concerns controlled parties that all comply with the privacy legislation applicable in Europe: delivery partners, suppliers, repairers, payment partners, IT service providers and the parties that collect and process our reviews.

To provide a personalized experience, we sometimes use data management platforms and media and advertising agencies. For example, we can show you targeted advertisements based on your interest in a particular article.

If fraud is suspected, we are obliged to share your data with the designated government authorities.

Clear agreements

The parties that receive access to your personal data from us may only use it to provide you with a service on our behalf. This of course does not apply if they themselves are responsible for obtaining and protecting your data. Sometimes cookie developers have access to data collected by cookies on our site. You can read more about these matters and cookies in our website cookie policy .

Very safe

We are aware that privacy is a great asset and therefore see it as our responsibility to protect your privacy. All data you provide to us is stored on our own secure servers or those of a third party. Your data is almost always stored within the European Union. In very exceptional cases, customer data is transferred to countries outside the European Union, but even then we ensure that your privacy remains well protected. For certain countries officially recorded how this is regulated and some US companies have registered under it Privacy Shield that offers sufficient protection. If neither of these two applies, we ensure that all important agreements are recorded in a processing agreement.

Measures

We believe that good protection of your (personal) data is important. We have therefore taken several technical and organizational measures to secure them and prevent data leaks. We have a clear and strict policy regarding the processing of personal data and all our employees are aware of this. So you don't have to worry, we do everything possible to guarantee your privacy.

How long do we use your data?

You give your data to us, they are stored on our servers and then? How long do we keep them? Very simple: no longer than necessary.

  • We do not record telephone conversations.
  • The tax authorities require us to keep our administration with your invoice, payment and order details for 7 years.
  • We also keep reports you make to us regarding warranty or complaints for 7 years.
  • If you have given permission to receive the newsletter, we will keep the permission for 5 years after you withdraw your permission. We also keep the withdrawal of your request for 5 years.

Cookies

We like a cookie with tea. Unfortunately, these are not the cookies we mean when we talk about 'cookies' on our website. To avoid confusion about this once and for all, we explain in detail which cookies are involved.

A cookie is a small text file that is placed on your computer when you visit a website. Information is stored in this text file. This information can be read by the website during a later visit. Some of these cookies are necessary, because otherwise the site cannot function properly. Other cookies are used to increase the ease of use of the website and other cookies are used to display targeted advertisements.

Web beacons are small graphic images on a web page that are hidden from the user and can be used to measure visits and usage of a web page.

JavaScript is a widely used scripting language that runs in the user's browser. By executing JavaScript we can determine where the visitor is located and what actions are being performed. This way we gain better insight into the behavior of the visitor. This allows us to better organize the website and advertise more specifically on the internet.

Would you like to delve deeper into this material? That's possible on our cookies page .

What are your rights?

Your data is yours. It is therefore only logical that you can gain insight into your data registered with us. Would you like to view this or even receive a copy? Which can! Do you want to change them, delete them or limit their use? That's also possible! No problem even. Simply contact our customer service and express your wish. This can be done by telephone on 088-112 05 07 and by email customerservice@merkbrillen.nl .

A small side note is that we cannot delete the data that we must keep for a legal basis. Processing time for most requests is 1 to 3 business days. If you want insight into your data and a copy, this will unfortunately take a little longer. It takes a maximum of 3 weeks from the time of request until you receive this from us by email.

Who is responsible?

Also not entirely unimportant: who is responsible for protecting the data that you provide via this website?
